Purified Road

    Now we are all suffering the corona virus and enormous political and racist violence，I can’t help myself dreaming about a world where only the nature survived. If we humankind keep on destroying the environment and fighting with each other, this beautiful “Utopian” world will eventually become real. 

    Purified Road, explores the tension between humanity and nature and tries to depict humanity’s destruction of nature in a subtle way. It depicts a natural world that is at once familiar yet uncanny. All human traces are removed from the original photographs and only a road remains. The road, which is often regarded as human’s conquest of nature, here seem to lead us humankind to nowhere.  The de-familiarization creates tension and blurs the boundaries between real and fake, natural and artificial. 

    This project not only aims to present the beauty of nature and to address the destruction of the environment, but also to invite viewers to reflect on our relationship with nature, and nature’s “revenge” which is likely to ensue.
